Lion's Mane powder
Lion's mane is garnering a great deal of interest due to its reported brain boosting properties, otherwise known as Hericium Erinaceas, it has been shown in clinical studies to help with the growth and repair of nerve tissue. We make our lions mane powder from the mushrooms that we grow, they are then dehydrated at low temperater then milled and screened to a fine powder which can be added to food or hot drinks.
Pure fruiting bodies or including mycelium?
Research has suggested that the bulk of the benefical compounds that we are looking to consume from the Lion's mane fungus are found within the mushroom fruiting body. Although there are additional beneficical compounds found within the mycelium which are not found within the fruiting body. For those who are interested we grow some of our lion's mane to form pure mycelial biomass which we add to our lions mane powder to form an 80/20 blend. Here at Paignton mushrooms we are focused on mushroom cultivation and aren't medical professionals so can't really say which is better, we leave that to the scientists doing clinical studies so we suggest that you look into their research.
It is generally recommended to consume around 2 grams (half teaspoon), once or twice a day.
Known interactions:
While there are no known interactions with pharmaceutical drugs, research is scarce on the matter. It is recommended for people with bleeding disorders to avoid it as it may slow blood clotting. Talk to your doctor first if in doubt.
